Not going to revolutionise the nail-polish world, is it? Plus it's suede finish (I'd say satin). Perfectly pleasant 2 coats with a top coat. Don't know why I bothered. No, I do. One of a cheap set of 4 from TK Maxx. That's why I bothered.

And this is Barnsbury Road, N1. For what it's worth.

Nails Inc Augustus Street - not so august

Well, I googled it and I can't say I was impressed. Looks a bit shabby to me. The street in Camden. Ya get wot am sayin', blood? OK, that's enough of me getting down with the kids.

The polish ain't no better. Looks good in the bottle. Not so much on the nail. And it's suede-effect! Bah. I've put RapiDry over it and it still isn't glossy. So I tried Top Rock. I'm new to RapiDry and I'm guessing it isn't even meant to provide shine. Does anyone know? The Top Rock improves it a little.

AND worse yet it's one of a set of 4 I got cheapo from TK Maxx and they are ALL suede!

Nails Inc Drury Lane

I'm growing ever fonder of Nails Inc. This is 2 coats and could maybe have used another. Index finger mattified.

And for why do I like Nails Inc?

• They are usually good quality.
• You can get bargains on ebay, discount cosmetics sites (ravencosmetics, for example) or just wait for the official website deals. A lot of people qvc them and I imagine that is also reasonable.
• Don't pay the silly RRP they quote though. Please. You'll give them delusions of grandeur.

Negatives?

• The cap is not easy to manage with small hands.
• They do way too many pinks and reds.

I have become a complete coral-queen recently. Used to loathe the colour!

Nails Inc Captivating Selfridges + W7 Earthquake White

We have here a crackle polish costing £3.98 including the ol' P&P. I think this makes a pretty mani. Delicate, feminine, pretty. SOOOOOOOO not adjectives that apply to me!

http://www.xtras-online.co.uk/cosmetics/w7cra.html for the W7. I have turned up my nose at W7 for many a long year but now I've tried 'em I LOVE them. W7 do a crackle black and a silver. The silver will be making a guest appearance here tomorrow. Why was I so snooty about W7? They are cheap and they look like they are ripping-off OPI. I have now decided that's a good thing. Teaches me not to be so narrow-minded.

This shows the Nails Inc. Must be an ancient limited edition polish as I've only seen it on one website. This is seriously sweet. 'Captivating Selfridges'. What's that all about? IS Selfridges particularly captivating? If I could be bothered to troll down to the smoke I wouldn't be making Selfridges a must-see. That I DO know. Really like this polish. Shows a little warm in the picture - I'd say it's paler IRL. Beautiful consistency. I thought it would be a streaky mess but went on with ease. 3 coats for full opacity but it was so good to work with.

Coral ombre - or whatever it's called...

I felt like a bit of coral but it's fairly boring so I did 5.
They are:

Missguided Misschievous *
Nails Inc Drury Lane *
Rimmel Apricot Punch
Jessica My Cabana Boy
Rimmel Sunrise
* first time I've used them

3 coats of each to greater or lesser effect...

Conclusions

• The Missguided is a tad red in some lights - certainly the best coverage/quality except maybe Sunrise which is a bit frosty/shimmery so not exactly comparable
• The cremes I'd used before had gone gloopy - boo - I don't like gloopy
• They all look closer on the nail than in the bottle - weird - so it didn't turn out as expected
• The Jessica turned out neon and matte (not as I had remembered it)

 

I had to slather serum (hair serum) over my hands to make any photo even remotely acceptable. First off I used the 'vignette' function in iPhoto to try to capture the colours whilst simultaneously disguising my sloughing-snakesin mitts. Yuk. I quite like the vignette feature. Can cover a multitude of sins. In dire need of Photoshop.

Doesn't coral come in lots of colours? So why do we call this soft-orange 'coral'? Anybody know anything about coral? The more you say it the odder it sounds as a word, I find.

Nails Inc Duke St - 24 Euros for a nail polish and a box and a bit of tat?!

OK, I didn't pay the price on the box. Far from it. But who pays that kind of money? Maybe nobody did which is why it's on sale for £6.95...Talk about ripping people off!

First the polish info. Lovely blue-grey creme. 2 coats. Nice enough. Excellent formula.

It's a leeeeeeettle bit less blue IRL.

Next the outrage. I bought a load of stuff. This polish however was in its own box. Hubris or what? Its own box?! The box clearly states 24 Euros. For 1 polish in a plastic tray and a 'phone charm' in a box. What's charming about it I simply don't know. You have to laugh at the audacity of a company that charges astronomical amounts for a handful of beans (Jack and the Beanstalk allusion). Of course I'm not really outraged - more astonished that some people (I pray it wasn't any of YOU) would dream of paying 24 Euros (£20.06) for such a thing.

See! I didn't lie. It says quite clearly 24 Euros.

I'm slightly ashamed I paid what I did, let alone twenty quid! But it was part of a bargain buy and the rest were cheap-as-chips so I'm not too guilt-ridden by it.

OK, what d'you reckon is a fair price for a Nails Inc polish with a *ahem* charm?

Nails Inc Battersea Power Station

I kid you not. This is the sort of fugly I adore and I've wanted it for awhile. Such a popular polish (ahem) that it is now on their website with 2 others for £8. The other two I'll flog.

The hideousness on my 4th finger is basecoat. I do rather slop it all over and it doesn't usually show up. Sorry.
2 coats. I  repeat. I love it.

Behold the much-loved Power Station. I believe it's rather ramshackle up close and hasn't undergone gentrification. I think it's rather fine although it doesn't take much imagination to visualise the four towers as the peg-legs of two elderly Napoleonic sailors.

I feel I should check out the names of all the Nails Inc polishes I own. I suspect that some of the place names belong to highly insalubrious areas of the capital. One day when at a loose end I shall pursue my plan to research them.

Meanwhile I plan a quiet evening with beer. And a couple of choc ices. You?

Nails Inc Kingly Street

You see a Nails Inc you like and I can GUARANTEE you they have withdrawn it from sale. Crazy company! I think I've only even seen this on sale once. It's probably out there under a host of different names. They seem to do that. You'll see a polish under a new name that uncannily resembles something you thought you recognised as something else.

2 coats. Could have used a 3rd. Rather glittery without containing glitter as such. Or such fine glitter that it doesn't quite become a bona fide glitter polish.

Kim at Overall Beauty (have to google it, people, as my links aren't working) has got a BB Couture offer until the 10th. I am trying to resist. Every day is going to be the day I call a halt to my buying. Every day (well, too many days) proves to be the occasion for a lapse from grace. Oh, dear....

Nails Inc haul

I have to admit I haven't been entirely fiscally responsible recently. I blame the sales.

Got a sale item from Nails Inc. This comprises the following items for less than £20 including P&P (pup? pop? pep? pip? pap?)

The Hurlingham, topcoat, Victoria and a metallic pink one...

Handcream (smells yummy), a nail file, a removal wipe (allegedly removes paint from 10 nails but WE SHALL SEE), a silver bag and the bacofoil thing in the background which is much classier than yer average bubble-wrap.

I'm now awaiting my last asos purchase and I'd better rein in my spending now.

How much do you like bubble wrap? I love popping it but am not allowed to do it when the OH is at home as it is deemed infuriating.

InStyle Nails Inc Mink

What a bargain. £3.50 for the mag and the polish. Full-size too. 10ml.

Get one, get them all!

Looks darker IRL. 2 coats. Butter smooth and gorgeous. It does change a lot according to the light. You definitely think of milky hot-chocolate. Base and top coat obviously. Highly pigmented.

Mink is the shade the bloggers seem to be choosing. I have seen the coral/red in shops but not the baby-pink. I definitely recommend the mink.

A more true-to-life pic. The index had to have a coat of Edge London over it as I made a mess!
