GlossyBox - orgasm!

01 NARS Orgasm. 30ml
02 The proper lippie - not a mini
03 A little (4ml) phial of cleanser - looks very serious and clinical
04 Hair product
05 Body lotion 50ml

  • The box is majorly pretty/good quality.
  • It is opened by pulling at a tear-strip. MUCH MUCH better than loads of tape.
  • The contents have to be worth 10 squid of anyone's marine molluscs.
A resounding 100% satisfaction.

OCC Lip Tar Anime - £8 WELL spent - + a bloomin' good website

This is a Lip Tar tutorial - if I may be so bold. These are SO worth buying but they do need careful handling. These are from Love MakeUp and currently at £8. Put it like this - if you like lipstick with more than 2 atoms of your being you need these.

http://www.love-makeup.co.uk/

This is almost colour-accurate. It's probably a tad brighter IRL.

Now this is how it begins.

1.

See the little blob? That's too much. That was there when I removed the cap. Do not squeeze the tube. REPEAT. Do NOT! Don't just casually handle these. Take care.

2.

They sent me a free mixing palette! Cool. That's still too much product. I intended to mix the Anime with another Lip Tar but the blob was too big a blob so I felt I had to try to use it and it gives a 'pure' swatch anyway...Combining will come later.

3.

Apply from the centre. If you start with the outer line it will feather. Put the bulk of the product at the centre to prevent this.

4.

That's what is LEFT! Pity my brush is too big for the allocated area..So I will leave that on the assumption that it will remain tacky and workable and use it will another shade next time!

I have 5 others and I can't see me stopping there. I believe professionals use these and may invest in the full library. Worth every penny of the 800 pennies I paid.

Lip Tars?
  • Don't float my boat not no how not no way
  • I'll think about it maybe
  • Yeah, but too expensive
  • Definitely on my list
  • You only have 6?! I have 16!!! Call yourself a fan?!

YSL Rouge Volupte Brun Vibrant lipstick

If it's Rouge then how can it be Brun? Just idly asking...

Looks glossier than I was expecting. Doesn't feel glossy/messy though which is something I welcome. It's not that I have long hair to get caught in lipstick but I still feel mildly queasy thinking about that scenario.

Was an absolute bargain. A fiver? Cheap Smells. Think I must have secured the last one. Just love the packaging. I'm really not supposed to be getting into lipstick as well as nail polish but .....too late. Just ordered 3 OCC Lip Tars and got an Illamasqua from asos at a bargain price.

Just to say - I hate the abbreviation 'lippie'. It's very useful and labour-saving and so forth but I just hate that word. Any words or phrases you particularly dislike?

The colour purple - Lancome Brillant Bluebird

My latest lipstick!
I have loved purple since 1971 when it was THE fashion colour.

1971 magazine spread. Purple. And see those shoes? Ankle straps, block heels and platforms. Love.

OK, I have the tights and some shoes. Purple.

All I need is the lippie. The lippie at the top. It's Lancome. It's purple. It must be gorgeous. Lancome? Je l'adore depuis plusieurs d'annees! And did I mention the purple thing?

Well.....In the tube it was a riot of colour and texture. And after using up half a tube on my lips (on and on I pressed and slathered) it ended up like............this. Thank the Lord it was an internet bargain and not full price. I could have spat!

If I'd wanted a lipgloss I'd have bought a ruddy lipgloss. What a cheek.

Good news though!
TJ Hughes have a bunch of Urban Decay stuff at £2.99 each. Today was also 20% off and I got a bostin' lipstick and eyeliner.

PS You have any bargain tips?

Cheap Smells haul + a big shout-out to Charlie of Lady of the Lane

Cheap Smells. Not the most attractive name for someone looking for good quality products at good (aka bargain) prices. Works on a 'does-what-it-says-on-the-tin' way. Direct. To the point. But charmless.

YSL Rouge Volupte Brun Vibrant £4.95. I'll swatch it soon. But the packaging is worth that money! Feels so satisfying in the hand. The sort of thing I pop in my pocket and just fondle to give myself a thrill....Is that TMI? I really don't need to develop an expensive lipstick habit but when did need trump desire?
The La Perla was £25.95 but it IS eau de parfum and the OH finds it irresistible. Odd because I don't much like it. Too woody and the patchouli is too strong but (as mentioned) the OH is crazy about it/me. So I need it in my arsenal.

Now the Peony is more my thing. I go for florals and gourmand fragrances so this is right up my rue. Got a polish too but I'll post that separately as it merits its own pearls of wisdom. Ahem.

I also use fragrance direct, cosmetic kingdom and probably scores of others. Any discount recommendations?

And thanks to Charlie of  http://www.ladyofthelane.com/.
I won a Dove prize in her giveaway so expect more pix of my hair soon! I just know you can hardly contain yourselves. Such is the excitement generated. ;o) I had better purple it a bit before I test the products! I like Dove body cream a LOT so have high hopes of the hair stuff.

Illamasqua Poison

From the sale. Going vampy/dark these days.

Plus a bit of lipgloss in the centre. Looked at my other lip-pix and was shocked by how meagre my lips now appear. Plus the odd angles I seem to have achieved in error. So went a little beyond the lipline with this.

The flash has thoroughly washed this out. It's dark and matte. I don't think I'm going to develop a major lipstick addiction akin to my passion for polish. Even lip products I really like don't absorb my interest the way polish does. My account seems to haemorrhage money as it is!

So here's the pic from the Illamasqua website. Cool, huh?

CBA now.

I know not what it may mean to you. Perhaps it's an acronym for Chartered Business Accountant. But I care not for such things. I should as I do have an accountant but his qualifications are his own affair. As long as I don't get into trouble with the taxman (could be a woman, I don't doubt it) I am a happy bunny. Cute Baby Animal.

Newborn at Paignton Zoo. The keepers hoped the mother was pregnant but weren't sure. Arrived at work to find this! Great way to start your working day.

Max Factor Hyperfull Voluptuous

Nothing new under the sun. Charlotte of  http://www.lipglossiping.com/ LIPGLOSSIPING did a coupla posts on this and it's a blog staple.

The old 'red lipstick' debate. Do you or don't you? I do. Doesn't matter if my hair is black (now), purple (last month), blonde (summer) or red. Why do women say it makes them feel clownish? You just have to have a bit of attitude (a - i -yude) to go with it.

This was a market stall item. £1.99? Too tomato to look good with my teeth. I like these matte lippies as I hate splodge and you can always put a spot of gloss in the middle to 'lift' it.But it looks fine if I don't smile. Yellow teeth allegedly need blue-reds to detract from the hideousness.

I can't do pale lips now I'm ageing and fading. I'd just be invisible. Women of my age often claim to be invisible because they perhaps don't attract so much male attention but I've never cared for that so I'm very happy to be free to be increasingly eccentric. That great poem about wearing purple when you get older and spitting. Purple yes. Spitting? Obviously not. Actually most of this has applied to me for years........

Warning

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Eyeko Cosmic - black glitter

I ended up loving the coral but you have to move on.....In nails as in life...

Just noticed I messed up the clean-up on my little finger. Went too far. Story of my life.
This is great. 2 coats over my new Boots ridge-filler.
That's it. 2 coats. In ordinary light (think grey day) it's basically black.
But I decided to take pix under halogen in my bathroom as they seem to come out fairly well and - Crikey O'Reilly - we had lift off.
Now we get the glitter.

With glitters my camera behaves like a nuclear missile honing in on target. It swoops, it locks on, it wavers, it hovers, it gets a fix, it veers away, it wobbles. I'm thinking Top Gun here. You may be able to tell that's how close I've ever got to armaments. A seat at the cinema.
Anyway the blurry pic is good. In a way.

Great polish by Eyeko. Again. They don't pay me and have given me precisely nothing but I still love them. This isn't hype btw.

And while I'm at it.

I ordered an Eyeko mascara and eyeliner for £10 and they sent me a lippie too.

The mascara has pretty stones on. The lippie has a mirror and a light! You press the base and it lights up. You can sort-of see that above. Tee hee. Pretty things. Child in a sweet shop. The eyeliner is good too.

Happy with Eyeko. Not happy with my dry hands.

What is your favourite CHEAP brand/brands? Of anything really. Soap. Hand cream. Tights.

You know - amazingly cheap and surprisingly good.

Don't mention the match. Shhh!
