Revlon Rock + discount cosmetic websites

This was a great collection with 4 good creme colours and 4 glitter additions. This is 2 coats. 3 would be a tad better. It's VERY glossy IRL but I had oiled my hands so that dulled the finish. No, I don't have prosthetic hands - just dry skin.

 

Now, I rarely venture into the retail black hole that is plonked in the middle of my town because it simply isn't worth it. We have one poxy little Boots and one poxy little Superdrug (always want to call it Supadrug, dunno why). But I don't recall seeing this collection actually hit the shops. It was all over the nailiweb when it came out and I liked the swatches so HURRAH for me when I found it on my beloved discount sites for £1.50.

Those of you fortunate enough to reside in places where you can just go out and pick up Color Club and China Glaze and OPI and RBL and every damned brand you can think of as soon as they are released won't understand my delight at finding a few cheap Revlon. If you live in the UK you just may sympathise with my plight.

You have to trawl through to find the gems but they are there. It's not as if every new collection doesn't contain some stinkers. I think Blue Iguana and Cha Cha Cha from the China Glaze Island Escape are pretty lame. Just because it's newly released doesn't make it good.

Just an example. Raven has China Glaze Sugar Plums for £3.95. That's a good buy IMO.

Just a thought for those of you who have got the time to search obsessively for bargains and/or refuse to pay list price for things!

Revlon Slipper

From a collection whose name I can't remember. Recent though.
AND ta-ta-ta-da-ta-ra available at £1.50 each from Fragrance  Direct.
You heard correctly.

Slipper goes with Ruby (but why would I buy a bog-standard red even at that low price) and is fabulous. I put it over the existing BB Couture Spellbound. I am so on a roll with my polish purchases at present! I have loads of glitter top-coats but this is unique as there's a lot of red in it. BONUS - it goes on smoothly and doesn't dry lumpy-bumpy. Tick. VG.

Oh, I forgot. I bought 3 Nails Inc in their sale and I only like one of them. So not such a roll after all. Maybe a slightly soggy oatmeal roll with some limp ham and a bit of faded lettuce. Filling but not as good as an aromatic duck wrap from the Co-Op.

If you like Slipper (Spellbound Slipper) check Fragrance Direct. Pop some more items in your basket to make the postage worthwhile and Bob's your uncle.

Revlon Streetwear Burnt

Possibly the best sludge-green out there. One of anyway.

 It has gold shimmer too. There are so many Streetwear shades. I would love a complete collection. Why did they discontinue these? It's a travesty!!!

2 coats + base and top. If you like greens then get this. It isn't hard to find although there are some variants. This is the best version.

This was my holiday RH. May still be for all I know. Should probably take some layering polishes with me. Not taking my whole damned stash obviously. The LH is the Skin Food red. Red and green should frequently be seen.

Scarlet Woman + Bourjois Effet Faux Ongles Rouge Modele + Cover Girl Candy Apple

24 hours after application. Daylight.

The Bourjois is on 3 of the visible digits. 2 coats + B + T.
"False-nail-effect" doesn't sound that appealing to me (which is what this polish claims) but it plays a blinder, does this. All it means is that it smooths out my deep-as-the-Marianas-trench ridges. And THAT is no mean feat. I have another colour (beige) and I'm getting 2 more while they're cheap at asos. 2 for £5 odd and no P&P. The colours are not exciting but Bourjois say they are going to widen the range. I know from the beige one that this polish lasts and lasts. I'm delighted with this.

Inside with flash. From which you can tell I have a chip on the index finger (the Cover Girl) and that the Bourjois has the barest hint of shimmer.

Why don't we wear more red? Is it SOOOOO boring and beneath our notice? I am loving this on my nails. Partly the colour and partly the fabulous coverage properties.

False nails? Acrylics, glue-ons? Don't know why I'm snobby about them as my hair is as far from natural as you can get (think straw). Perhaps it's because I knew someone who got a terrible fungal infection from wearing false nails. It was really gross. It's more common with fake nails than natural, isn't it? I also don't like the regularity of fake nails. Mine are atrocious and I can't shape them for toffee but they look sort-of honest. Which again is ridiculous because my hair is entirely UNauthentic. Prejudice is an odd thing. Totally irrational.

Anyway, I am now on a massive red-binge. I have about 5 reds out of over 300 so it won't last long.

Revlon ad from the Seventies (that's a guess). I think Fire and Ice is a nice idea for a range. I wonder if this model was air-brushed? She has a great figure. Probably genuine but one becomes so cynical.

Any red ideas for me? Mainstream or funky?

Revlon Passion Punch (an oldie)

Not old to me though. From one of my fave discount etailers. Cosmetic Kingdom maybe. Or Blush?

Apparently this exists also in a shimmer version.
This is not that version.
Look a bit old-ladyish but I quite like the slightly dull tone of it. The pic looks a shade brighter than IRL.

Just a bog-standard creme. 2 coats. No issues.

Inevitably I will have to titivate this.
May go back to purple and green tomorrow or try one of the combinations suggested in comments yesterday.
