Lilac ombre with beauty uk

This goes:
Little finger Lilac
Ring - Lilac plus a coat of FlorMar (OK, this makes it too blue, I know)
Middle - Soft Lilac
Index and thumb - Cotton Candy

It works alright conceptually but what I can assure you is that the beauty uk polishes continue to be great successes. 2 or 3 coats and you're done. Very pleased with the quality. Days were that cheap polish was sh!t quality. Those days seem long-gone. If you can buy it in a reputable shop then that's your guarantee that it's good stuff.

The apparent crustiness on my fingers is where I went overboard with base coat. Oops.

BIG APOLOGIES
  • I'm not keeping up well with comments
  • I'm not fulfilling all my promises to mention people when I said I would

W7 Cosmic Mauve and Nubar Vaso

I bought my first W7 polishes and I can report they are excellent. This is the least interesting. The other 2 are truly A MAY ZZING. Ebay W7 if you too live in the regions of shopping darkness and can't find it locally. My branch of Debs is charging £7.50 for these. Do they ever sell any? I hope not because that is a quite cynical rip-off.

The Nubar is also fab. It's the least popular of the Venetian Glass collection and the only one I have.  I am now desperate for the others. Everyone says Vaso is marketed as a glass-fleck but it's just (just?) a foil and therefore a disappointment. Well, I think it's both. So there. And not disappointing at all. Get your Nubar at  http://www.nubar-nailz.co.uk/      Very good service and fair prices.

One of my next posts is going to be about the ethics of spending. Not about getting a bargain or value for money or buying on credit (although that IS an ethical issue). But addressing my personal prejudices on purchasing and why they exist. And you may share them.  Or you may not.

Most of you weren't economically active during the apartheid South Africa years but here's a question.

If South Africa were still governed by the white elite would you be happy to buy South African fruit? There are/were all sorts of views on this. What's yours?

And one more as a poser - if you were offered fantastic and cheap goods (Manolos? Cartier?) you had reason to believe were stolen during a violent raid would you go ahead or turn away?

Happy thinking

Barielle Jess' Champagne Toast & Misa Shop till u drop

Ridiculous name.

The BOGOF on autumn/winter 2010 polishes. I would never pay £8 for these. Don't get me wrong, Barielle are British (I think) and they are good but not THAT good.

I read that this is a bit of a weed so I put a coat of a similar colour underneath and then 2 coats of this. It dries dull as it's a foil so top coat was a must. I always TC anyway though....

It's pretty and that's as far as it goes. Pretty underwhelming. Heck, it's only nail polish.

I need to post about something more profound - cars, fashion, TV. Something really deep and meaningful...ahem.

I hear they've isolated some anti-matter particles in Switzerland. Now that IS remarkable. Apparently. If I understood it and hadn't failed physics at the age of 13. What gets to me is this: the scientists try to explain by way of analogy/simile but even THAT makes no sense to me. Which makes me think that they don't understand it either. I wonder......

What leaves you cold?
Quantum theory?

Essence Lilac Forever

I said I'd do a post of a polish and I am - even though I had to rush this yesterday. Firstly I applied 2 coats and dashed out. I realised later they were too patchy so I added a third and it was all downhill from there. It seemed impolite to refuse to hold hands with the OH on the sofa because one had just re-painted the old nails so I have smudges. It is equally discourteous to then sod off in order to redo the messed-up mani. Hence what you see before you.

This colour is ten-a-penny but I got this because I don't have any Essence polishes and it has a funky cap. Oh, and it was cheap in Croatia. I don't need a gazillion lilacs in my life but I'll keep it as a holiday souvenir. Fave lilac that I have? OPI A Grape Fit.

Speaking of Croatia. The black squirrel.

The wildlife we mostly saw was black squirrels, small and very fast lizards/newts, bats. Mercifully short on midges and mozzies. We wage war against grey squirrels at home because they trash the bird-feeders but we're in favour of red and black squirrels.

Question.
How much does your OH (if applicable) grumble about the time you spend on blogging/reading blogs/talking and thinking about cosmetics and fragrances and clothes?
