Pop Beauty Violetta

This is the hardest ever polish to get a colour-accurate picture of. (Ended a sentence with a preposition - ghastly!)

I should probably iPhoto it and blue it up a bit. That's probably what it needs but I know I still wouldn't get it right. Some companies do similar shades and call them Dahlia (Barielle). I'd say fuchsia.

The central bell-section of the fuchsia. That kinda colour.

  • 3 coats
  • Satin finish
  • Tipwear - I really detest tipwear
  • Slow to dry even with topcoat
You'd conclude that I don't like this but I do. It's vibrant, edgy. It sings!

What polishes do you love despite very evident flaws?

Pop Beauty Pinkest

I googled this and I haven't seen an accurate photo anywhere so I'm suggesting this is an awkward customer. IRL it's more...er, (the clue's in the name) pink. 2 or 3 coats. I do love it. It dries satin-y so needs a topcoat IMO. Nubar 2010 conceals/distracts from a 'dink'.

Tip wear isn't great on this. I have slight wear on one nail after a day which I do not think acceptable.

It's both neon/fluorescent and jelly-like. Quite unusual. I'm very fond of this brand and am going to attribute the tipwear to ..to .. the weather or something.

You don't see this brand much. Any other brands you reckon are 'rare' but worth more attention? This is not HTF or anything. This was from asos but you can easily get it from Pop Beauty's own site.

No nails as such - Pop Beauty LotD Bee Stung (it's a lip gloss btw)

Well, I just messed about with top coats over the CK Barefoot today and I know there is no queue to see that so this is what you get instead.

Quite a lot of mileage in doing products other than polish because (as we shall see) there are technical issues aplenty!).

It's a lip gloss in a cute pot.

Here's the sparkle pic.

And it is sparkly on the lip too. And greasy and gummy and leaves marks on cups. But plenty stays on the lips.

But what if you need to retouch?

That has to be the least practical sponge applicator ever. Because of the handle size the cap comes very close to the lips when applying and you can't even see what you're doing without a mirror because the chunky (but cute and pleasantly rubbery) cap obscures your vision.

It wasn't full price. Just an item I added to my order for the hell of it because I'm over budget this month and then one becomes gripped by WTF-itis and can't help oneself. I like it. I'm puckering up at my reflection in the window as I sit at my desk and pretending to be all sulky-moody-sex-kitten. As long as I don't focus on any other bits of me I could almost believe it!

D'you want more nails/jewellery/history of cosmetics/dog of the day (always popular) or sumting else?

Jennifer

PS The PETA animal-abusers list comes tomorrow because we need to know not only the good guys but whom to avoid (should we wish to and don't think I'm badgering you.....much).

Pop Beauty Nail Glam Twinkle - glitter + DotD

Now I don't like to boast...(not a lot and not too often anyway)
But in buying this particular polish I scored a goal more spectacular than you have yet seen in World Cup 2010. This is a polish I haven't seen on the blogs. I venture to state this is the best glitter polish - bar none.

SIMPLES!!

Yes, I've been wearing this on a single finger for days but today I decided it was worth a full 5 fingers! Nothing ever gets 10 whole fingers.
The forecast in these here parts is for sunshine for a few days and this will last a few days and more. I'm not going to test it to destruction as I'm within 16 years of my three score and ten so I'd better get a move on and use some of my untrieds. This is one of those "sorry-officer-I-didn't-mean-to-drive-in-the-back-of-that-Mini-only-I-was-gazing-at-my-nails" polishes. And then some.

And now for the DotD. The b!tch makes a return visit to the blog. She was very well-received on her first appearance.

She was asked to pose by the hall mats she had been trashing. She scratches at them because she likes the rough texture. It's a spaniel ear-drying technique. One descends the stairs to find the mats in a heap with a positively orgasmic spaniel rolling around. She sat for her photo but was distracted by one of the dog-chaps and is looking at him. She has been quite annoying on her walk today having disappeared twice and failed to respond to clear (and loud) instructions. Hm. She is however unspeakably adorable and one can't be cross with her for long - mostly because she would sulk and shun one and it isn't pleasant to be cold-shouldered by the dog!

Which polish distracts YOU from your driving? Rebecca only just passed her test so I hope she's taking PARTICULAR care to concentrate.   ;o)

GUEST DotD + ABOP win + Pop Beauty Radioactive

2 coats plus topcoat. Neon but doesn't dry especially matte. Matte-ish.
Well named. It is a positive screamer!

It is a great deal brighter than this. With a blue shimmer in the bottle. That shimmer does translate to the nail in a fairly low-key way. I think you can detect a bit of the shimmer in the 1st pic. And maybe in the 2nd pic. Honestly I really am losing the plot here. It    has    blue    shimmer    full    stop.

I never buy a whole collection of anything. No, I WON one! From "ANOTHER bottle of polish" (see sidebar). Plus a Finger Paints and a Dark Pleasures. I promise to tell you more but I'm so rushed!
Diamond Cosmetics are fab. Get them in the UK from flashynails.co.uk BUT the range isn't as up-to-date as the US nailaholics have access to. And THANK YOU to ABOP.

GUEST DotD with a forthcoming DotD at the rear.
This gentleman is Australian. He comes to stay for a visit when his family make a return visit to the land at the bottom of the earth.
He is indomitably self-confident - not to say downright  bumptious. No jokes about Australians, please. They are very fine cricketers. Damn them!
This gentleman is getting on a bit but an example to us all in terms of optimism, spunk and energy.

More later if time permits.

Question of the day.
Do you watch Dr Who?
Was the Van Gogh episode a stinker or not? (Oops, just noticed that the card from ABOP isn't a Van Gogh - it's a Monet...)

Bourjois Effet Faux Ongles - Beige Sophistique AND Pop Beauty Nail Glam Twinkle

Phew! That's a lot of writing for the names of 2 polishes!

The Bourjois is new. As in new on the market. I saw this on Just Nice Things on Helen's super-long nails and just had to have it. It looks better on her but that doesn't mean I can't wear it.

It's some amazing, revolutionary, innovative, life-enhancing,  revelatory ....stuff.
It does apply beautifully, I must admit.
Whipped cream. 2 coats.
Look, if you want all the technical hype I'm not up to that.
It's from asos. The colour range is bor-ING! But I wanted a boring colour so that's OK. I got a bright red too and that looks as if it will be hot!
And asos is free P&P. More companies are going this way. I likey likey.

And I got 3 Pop Beauty Nail Glam. OMG, I am going to get more. I registered with them or something and got a discount. Even at £6 full price these are superlative. 2 coats. Not very gritty. They don't have a huge variety but I'm having them. Having them all, do you hear!!! Seem to be getting a bit crazed..

And in sunlight.

3 questions. 1 is not nail-related. You have to guess which one.
1 Your fave nude? If you have such a thing. The concept of nude polishes was anathema to me but a few weeks ago.
2 Best glitter?
3 Should that Green fellow be sacked as England goalie? How shocked were you by that error? I'm saying 100% appalled. I could have saved that with my bloomers round my ankles whilst whipping up a souffle and taking a 'phone call from my Mum.
